Overview
This IDC Government Insights Perspective discusses observations for government buyers from the Oracle OpenWorld 2011 event, where Oracle's users and partners and the industry analysts who follow them come together to share views and get caught up on information technology developments and strategies. Oracle also uses this event to make daily announcements on new products, solutions, and services and gives analysts alone time with its customers to discuss their experiences and partnerships with Oracle. This year, Sun was again heavily featured as Oracle continues to promote the value of integrated hardware, software, and services. Oracle also continues on the Exadata path to integrate and optimize its hardware store, and it shows. And while that's commendable in light of the attention that government datacenters are getting these days, the other big question that's bouncing around government these days — cloud computing — also got big play.
