Overview
This IDC Government Insights report provides insight into the EMEA 2010 Top 10 Predictions. While 2009 presented a brutal reality check, 2010 will be a year of tough choices for public sector executives and elected officials. Jan A Duffy, research director, EMEA IDC Government Insights said: "The government IT market is important to economies across EMEA, with a forecast value of $71.9 billion in 2010. This is very close to the value of a United States government market, which is forecast to be $72.9 billion in 2010. ICT is important to the effective management and delivery of public services and also to supporting economic stimulus programs. IDC Government Insights' Top 10 Predictions are focused on four key themes — paying down the public debt, keeping the public sector operating, ensuring that the public administration is "fit for purpose," and planning for a better future — that will underpin many of the actions taken by public sector executives in the coming 12 months."
