Adelaide O'Brien
Research Director, Smart Government Strategies
Adelaide O'Brien is responsible for developing and publishing research for innovative government services delivery. Her research includes government information transparency, cross agency directives and collaboration, smart government maturity models, annual predictions, and go-to-market strategy guides with comprehensive views of IT trends, challenges and opportunities that shape the U.S. federal, state, and local government sectors. Ms. O’Brien is often quoted in CIO Magazine, Government Technology, Washington Technology, Federal Times, Federal Computer Week, Nextgov.com, and Web 2.0 Journal. She is a frequent speaker/moderator at American Council of Technology Industry Advisory Committee (ACT-IAC), Women in Technology, the Digital Government Institute, and industry events.
Ms. O’Brien began her career working in various state and local governmental staff positions, including Minnesota State Government. She draws on more than 25 years of experience in high-tech corporations, including Honeywell, AT&T, Lucent, and Avaya. She has a long track record of translating customer preferences into actionable business initiatives. Throughout her career, Ms. O’Brien has been recognized and received many awards for leading cross-functional teams to achieve outstanding results through change management and customer focus. She serves as a member of the Digital Government Institute Customer Services Advisory Committee to provide leading-edge education programs on key topics facing government IT managers. Ms. O’Brien has received a Volunteer of the Year Award from Women in Technology, and currently is Chair of the ACT-IAC Collaboration and Transformation Shared Interest Group.
Ms. O’Brien has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Marquette University and a Masters of Public Affairs from the University of Texas, where she published several articles on government policies and processes. She also holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota.
