This IDC Government Insights Perspective provides updated American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) spending, which we previously reported in Capitalizing on the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act: An Accurate View of Addressable Spending, with Advice for Agencies and Vendors (IDC Government Insights #GI221113, December 2009). The ARRA was enacted by Congress in February 2009 and dedicated roughly $787 billion in funding — with a goal of helping to stimulate a struggling U.S. economy and pushing the country toward economic recovery. ARRA funds started to trickle out to recipients by mid-2009. The funding flow has steadily increased, and 2010 will see the highest level of spending, which will continue through 2011.
