Adelaide O'Brien is a research manager with IDC Government Insights, and responsible for developing and publishing research, based on primary and secondary information, for innovative government services delivery. Publications include research on federal government leadership through transformation, collaboration, and citizen participation; government use of social networking and best practices in Web 2.0; shared services; data center consolidation; and innovative sourcing vehicles used by GSA.

Ms. O’Brien regularly contributes to the government services delivery blog in the IDC Government Insights Community (http://idc-insights-community.com/government). She is often quoted in CIO Magazine, Government Technology, Nextgov.com, and Web 2.0 Journal.

Ms. O’Brien began her career working in various state and local governmental staff positions, including Minnesota State Government. She draws on more than 25 years of experience in high-tech corporations, including Honeywell, AT&T, Lucent, and Avaya, where she was an award winning marketing executive. She is known for her leadership skills, strategic thinking, and ability to collaborate on complex projects.

Ms. O’Brien has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Marquette University, a Masters of Public Affairs from the University of Texas, where she published several articles on government policies and processes, and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. She has received a Volunteer of the Year Award from Women in Technology, and is actively engaged in the American Council for Technology Industry Advisory Council, where she serves as the Vice Chair of the Collaboration and Transformation Shared Interest Group.
